Here’s How Budget-Conscious Michiganders are Affording Internet, TV Service Without Long-Term Contracts

XFINITY Prepaid Service is a great option for anyone who wants internet and TV without the commitment of a long-term service contract.

But you don’t have to take our word for it. Just ask Moe Ghaffar who says his all-in-one neighborhood cell phone store/restaurant/gas station/convenience shop sells more than 100 prepaid kits to new customers every month. Customers extend the service on a per-week or per-month basis, so they get the flexibility of paying when they’re able.

“Prepaid customers get access to great XFINITY services, but on an as-needed basis,” says Moe. “They pay depending on their individual needs and situation. Still, prepaid customers get as great internet service and technical support as any other XFINITY customer, without having to sign a contract.”

To prepay or not to prepay?

Prepaid service might be right for you if you:

  • Love great internet or TV service
  • Don’t want the commitment of an annual contract
  • Avoid monthly bills when possible
  • Crave more control over when you get service
  • Have poor credit (there’s no credit check required)

With the TV prepaid option, consumers can pick from two channel packages – one with 45-plus channels and the other with 140-plus channels, many in HD. Both include more than 50 music choice channels.

Those who choose prepaid internet, meanwhile, get the same great service as every other XFINITY internet customer, with download speeds reaching up to 10 Mbps.

Unlike other companies, XFINITY allows customers to purchase TV and internet services separately. Moe says millennial customers tend toward prepaid internet, while older adults prefer the TV kit. All in all, both options sell equally well, he says.

Getting started

With XFINITY, purchasing and setting up prepaid service couldn’t be easier. First, customers purchase a one-time starter kit and 30 days of service either online or from one of the more than 300 certified retailers, including Boost Mobile stores, XFINITY stores and other retailers. Starter kits are available for $80, and can be purchased everywhere Comcast’s XFINITY is available. Kits come with all necessary equipment, a setup guide and an activation code for 30 days of service.

Then, customers can refill their accounts online anytime using a credit card or debit card, or by purchasing a refill code at a participating retailer. Refills are available in one-week (starting at $15) or 30-day increments (starting at $45). Existing Boost Mobile customers receive $5 off refills.

For many, it’s a great way to reduce TV and internet bills. It’s for this reason that Moe began using XFINITY prepaid service at his own home.

“I wouldn’t sell anything I didn’t believe in,” he added. “It’s extremely convenient. If you feel like paying that month, you do so. If not, there’s no obligation. Our customers love it.”
