Being a part of the Comcast family is a great opportunity. We love to hear from our interns on their experiences of working with us and hear what the most valuable aspect was for them. We hope these authentic accounts of the internship experience here at Comcast inspire other bright, young professionals to seek opportunities with us.

Dominic Jemmoa attends Oakland Community College and will be transferring to Davenport University in the fall. He is working towards his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Jemmoa spent 12 weeks working with our Business Services department. He shares his insights and gives other students an inside look into what it was like to work for Comcast.

1. How did you find this internship?

I actually found this internship on the company’s website. I was searching for an internship for a while and I thought that Comcast would be a good choice for me, which it has been. The interview process wasn’t too long once I talked to the HR person. I had a phone interview with my current boss discussing the role. Once that concluded, HR contacted me again to tell me I was chosen for the position and I started the onboarding process.

2. What is your favorite aspect of working with Comcast so far throughout your internship?

My favorite aspect about Comcast is the people. I think the people can make or break where you work and what you do on daily basis. I love working with my colleagues here in the Royal Oak facility; they are not only so nice and friendly, but are always willing to help me when I am stuck.

3. What are some examples of the hands-on work you have had the opportunity to do through your internship experience with Comcast?

I have done many projects here at Comcast.  When a customer has a service completed to their account, I am the one who calls the customer to make sure that everything is in working order. Additionally, if the customer has any other issues I try to assist them.

4. How do you feel this internship has equipped you with skills you can utilize in your future career after graduation?

I think the skills that Comcast has taught me are extremely valuable and I will definitely take everything I have learned and apply it to my future endeavors. I was able to learn about the corporate environment, use the databases that Comcast uses on a daily basis, learn how to have good communication skills with our customers and employees, and gain valuable lessons from presentations from senior management.

5. Any advice for other students searching for an internship?

I would say if you’re looking for an internship make sure that it is with a company that you feel can teach you many things. Utilize every opportunity to learn as much as you can, and say yes to everything offered. The experience should be mutually beneficial – you should be gaining relevant, imperative experience in your career field and the company should be utilizing you for fresh ideas and as a source of assistance in tasks that are related to what you want to learn about.
