Comcast is nearing completion of a $7 million network expansion project in Eaton County that makes the company’s Xfinity 10G Network available to residents and businesses in Dimondale and Potterville this month. The second phase of the project, which will be completed by year-end, will include services available to residents and businesses in Charlotte.
“I’m grateful Comcast has made the investment to expand its network to serve the residents and businesses of Charlotte, Dimondale, and Potterville,” said Michigan Representative Angela Witwer of the 76th District. “This will add a significant boost to the economic and educational opportunities within our community.”
Residential customers in these areas will be able to take advantage of the full suite of broadband services on the Xfinity 10G Network. These include speeds up to 2 Gbps; advanced WiFi technology capable of delivering speeds faster than a Gig to support the ever-increasing number of connected devices in their homes; and xFi, a digital dashboard to control their home WiFi network that includes Advanced Security protecting every device on the network from malware and security threats. Additionally, Comcast offers Internet Essentials, which brings broadband into the home for eligible low-income families for free when combined with the federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program.
“A fast, secure, and reliable internet connection is vital in today’s digital world, and we are committed to connecting more mid-Michigan communities,” said Kristee Cominiello, senior vice president of Comcast in Michigan. “We continue to invest in our network and seek opportunities to expand to help meet the needs of residents and businesses today and into the future.”
The expanded network will also reach businesses in these communities. Comcast Business offers a suite of connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless, and managed solutions to help organizations of different sizes prepare for what’s next. Powered by the nation’s largest Gig-speed broadband network, and backed by 24/7 customer support, Comcast Business is the nation’s largest cable provider to small and mid-size businesses.
In the last three years, Comcast has invested more than $850 million in technology and infrastructure in Michigan, including upgrades to its broadband network.
