X1 Made Me a Believer

By Don Peasley, Chief Collaboration Officer/X1-Lover

There was a moment during this year’s March Madness basketball tournament when I realized the power of X1 from XFINITY.

Every year, I have a few friends over at my house in Birmingham, Mich., to watch the games. In the past, just finding the right channel was cumbersome, and by the time you did, you’d be five minutes into a game. Then, if you were watching multiple games simultaneously, you were missing plays while you were switching between channels took painfully long.

This year was different. With the X1 Voice Remote, changing channels was as easy as saying, “CBS” or “TBS.” X1 switched from one game to another without missing a beat. Every time I’d do it, the room would cheer. It was like they were cheering for the TV. It was ridiculous – almost comical – but everyone was blown away and it was really fun.

If you don’t yet have X1, you might have seen the TV commercials, like the one where the grandkids reluctantly go over to their grandparent’s house and, thanks to X1, end up having a great Christmas. But you don’t know X1 until you’ve experienced it for yourself.

As a marketing and business leader at Gr8 Road Partners, a brand and business consultancy, I know the best marketing doesn’t make up for a bad product. A great product, on the other hand, speaks for itself. And, when your product is as good as X1, it can change your perception of an entire brand.

That’s what happened for me after my family began using X1. A while back, I was on the phone with an XFINITY representative, voicing my overall frustration with our XFINITY television service. Sensing what I needed, the representative suggested X1 – a product I’d heard of (I’d seen the commercials) but had never considered seriously until then. Luckily, the representative took the time to explain X1 and answer my questions until I was convinced. Still, I didn’t really become an X1 believer until the technicians came to install the box, and I began using it for myself.

You can also use Voice Control to search for networks, shows or actors. I don’t need to know channel numbers anymore. With the DVR function, my family can take their shows with them on the go. X1 also lets me watch movies and shows on-demand  and even gives me recommendations on what to watch.

My 16-year-old son, a big Survivor fan, and I like The Walking Dead. We were both blown away by the ability to pick up and resume episodes on any TV in our house.

I love the fact that X1 will record whole series for me. It even knows I want to record things in HD, and does so automatically.

X1 is so good, I don’t have any interest in finding out what WOW! or AT&T are offering. There’s no possible way anybody has anything that would motivate me to go through the process of switching.

I don’t know how I ever watched TV before X1, and I don’t know why anyone would have Comcast service and not take advantage of it.

Today, I’m telling a completely different story about Comcast. This product has successfully changed my opinion of the brand, and I know it’ll do the same for many others who adopt X1.
