Comcast Opens Second Xfinity Store in Detroit at Gateway Marketplace Shopping Center

Company Invests $800,000 in New Location

Comcast announced today the opening of its second Xfinity® retail store in Detroit at 1367 Eight Mile Road. The store is located in the Gateway Marketplace Shopping Center next to the former Michigan State Fairgrounds.

The new 4,100-square-foot Xfinity store, which cost $800,000 to build, is designed entirely around the needs of customers. The space features contemporary hands-on displays and comfortable seating areas where customers can learn from trained technology specialists and interact with all Xfinity products, including internet, video, connected home solutions and Xfinity Mobile.

“This past year has reinforced just how critical fast, reliable internet is to our livelihood,” explained Melissa Bahoora, Comcast’s vice president of sales in Michigan. “We want our customers to understand and leverage all of the features and capabilities our products and services provide. Giving Detroiters a second location in the city to try out our products is the best way to educate them on how the technology they rely on every day can provide more convenience and added value.”

Comcast, which delivers speeds up to 1.2 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) to residential customers throughout the entire city, has served Detroit since 1994. In the last three years, the company has invested more than $850 million in technology and infrastructure in Michigan, including upgrades to its broadband network in the City of Detroit.

The new store, which replaced the now closed Lyndon Street customer service center, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Customers may schedule their visit by making an appointment here beginning today.
