Comcast has been committed to creating and supporting digital equity in Detroit for more than 10 years. The company has partnered with local nonprofit organizations through in-kind and financial resources to teach digital skills to residents right where they are.
Recently Comcasters held Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) signup events with two nonprofits, the Methodist Children’s Home Society and Adams Butzel Recreation Complex in Detroit. Comcast staff were on hand to help visitors connect to the transformative power of the internet. This included educating attendees on the federal government’s ACP, which is a benefit program that helps ensure every household can afford broadband connection. For eligible households, the program provides a credit of up to $30 per month towards internet service. Visitors also learned about Internet Essentials from Xfinity, which provides fast, reliable affordable home internet service. Internet Essentials can be free when qualified customers enroll in ACP.
